What is it?
A series of 3-6 minute animated videos introducing Quick Base concepts and walking new builders through the steps to create an app.
My role
I was the executive sponsor. I defined the project, chose the creative team, approved scripts and creative direction. Once completed I worked with leaders from other departments to coordinate placement of these assets in multiple customer & prospect-facing channels.
Imagine building a kitchen with no plans and no knowledge of tools and materials.
Well… Creating your first Quick Base app is kinda like that. Success requires planning, knowing your tools, how they work, and what your raw materials are. You have to learn some new concepts and understand how they all fit together.
To help novice app builders we created an animated video series to introduce Quick Base concepts and walk newbies through the process of creating their first app.
We had to do this in an engaging way… no dry tutorials or confusing tech talk.
The Quick Base App used in the how-to series. The app starts off with many areas already created. As concepts are explained, builders watching the series can practice on the app and add new elements as they are introduced.
The series uses the app above to walk the new builder through the basic concepts using a fictional character and company. The scenario involves a small business tracking sales and inventory with Quick Base. It’s a business scenario most people can connect with. This means they can focus on Quick Base concepts, and not struggle with understanding the use case we are solving.
The series introduces Sally, who runs a bike shop, and presents her need for an app to manage sales, parts, and shipments in collaboration with various different people on her team.
It walks them through the process of creating an app and introduces new concepts along the way.
Elaborating on how to support teams who work in different locations and on different types of devices, but share a common set of data, processes, and interactions.
Database concepts can feel confusing when couched in technical terms. But relating them to everyday concepts breaks the techno-jargon wall and allows newbies to quickly pick up the skills they need to be successful.
Driving higher engagement by making the next episodes in the series easily available.

These videos are on the first page of Quick Base that all new builders see. Completion rate is in the 60% range.
In addition, the customer success team responsible for training took these videos and made them the centerpiece of their initial on-boarding experience for all new customers. Existing customers use them as a way to expand usage of Quick Base within their own organization.
